Cultural Competency is defined as having the competence, or
capacity, to function effectively as an individual and organization,
by providing services while remaining respectful of racial and
ethnic cultural histories, traditions, beliefs, values, behaviors,
and customs. This is accomplished regardless of race, color,
religion, sex, national origin, age, sexual orientation, disability,
ethnicity, or any other cultural factors not previously mentioned.
Part of our journey to become a Culturally Competent
Agency requires us to truly understand the client's we serve as well
as each other. To accomplish this, our Cultural Competency Committee
encourages client's to express themselves artistically. This has
been an enlightening venture that we are pleased to share with you.
