PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Addictions Crisis Center is an 18-bed facility
offering crisis services to both males and females in Broome County
and surrounding areas. All admissions are voluntary. The Crisis
Center is divided into two separate units: PRIMARY CARE and EXTENDED
CARE.
REQUISITE SERVICES:
- Assessment.
- Monitoring of withdrawal symptoms and vital signs.
- Individual and group counseling.
- Level of care determination.
- Referral and linkages to other necessary and appropriate
services.
PRIMARY CARE UNIT
PURPOSE: Provides services to persons who are intoxicated
by alcohol and/or substances. These services include: 24 hour
non-medical detoxification, 24 hour staffed hot line, referrals to
other appropriate health or mental hygiene services, individual
counseling, and appropriate referrals to continuing treatment and
rehabilitation. The services are designed to provide a safe
environment in which a person may complete withdrawal and secure a
referral to the next level of care.
TARGET POPULATION: Persons who are intoxicated by alcohol
and/or substances; persons who are suffering from mild withdrawal
coupled with a situational crisis; persons who are unable to abstain
with an absence of past withdrawal complications; or persons without
a supportive recovery environment who are in danger of relapse.
LENGTH OF STAY: Average length of stay is 1 to 3 days
CAPACITY: 6 to 10 beds.
EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM
PURPOSE: Provides short-term structured programming for
the alcohol and/or chemically dependent individual; programming
includes: evaluation for appropriate level of care, counseling, and
referral and linkage to appropriate treatment and other needed
services.
SERVICES: To provide a structured environment for
individuals who are waiting for admission to the appropriate level
of treatment. Below is a list of the primary activities of the
program:
- Referral and linkage to appropriate alcohol and/or drug
treatment.
- Referral, coordination, and linkage to other needed services
including medical, mental health, DSS, housing, and legal.
- A structured calendar of daily activities designed to address
and assist newly abstinent persons with the multiple issues of the
early recovery process. Activities include: a meditation group,
two educational sessions, community meetings, in house job
responsibilities, recreation, and optional self-help meetings.
TARGET POPULATION: Alcoholics or chemically dependent
persons who desire further treatment.
LENGTH OF STAY: 2 to 14 days.
CAPACITY: 8 to 12 beds. |
