SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM
Ages: Men and women over 18
The Supportive Living Program is a 9-bed program with length of
stay ranging from 6 to 24 months. Program participants live in
apartments with 1 or 2 other people in the City of Binghamton. The program is intended to provide safe housing options
and case management after discharge from Halfway House care.
The Mannion House Program is a 6-bed program for men.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM
Ages: Men over 18
This program, which is a component of the Supportive Living
Program, targets recovering homeless male alcoholics and substance
abusers. In addition to the 12 beds in apartments in Binghamton, a Street Outreach Worker located at Project Uplift and a
Vocational/Educational counselor provide services. The program is
intended to provide safe housing options and case management after
discharge from Halfway House care.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM
FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN
Ages: Women over 18 and their children
This program, which is a component of the Supportive Living
Program, targets homeless women & their children who are recovering
alcoholics and substance abusers. Five apartments, which are located
in the City of Binghamton, are exclusively dedicated for
use. The program is intended to provide safe housing options and
case management after discharge from Halfway House care.
PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this Program is
to bridge the gap between intensive treatment and sober independent
living. Program participants live in apartments with one or two
other residents. They share responsibility for the basic activities
of daily living.
GOALS: The principal goal of the Program is to
provide a supported sober living environment that will enhance the
alcoholic's recovery process and prepare him/her for sober
independent living. The following is a list of the major objectives
of this Program:
- Maintained and sustained abstinence from alcohol and other
drugs. Coordinate linkage to treatment program, recovery support
system (AA/NA), and other community services (i.e. health, mental
health, etc.)
- Acquire and practice appropriate social and living skills
(i.e. appearance and grooming, personal hygiene, communication
skills, problem solving, etc.)
- Engage in and maintain a program of educational/vocational
training, volunteer work, and/or employment.
- Learn and engage in sober recreational activities.
- Develop healthy community ties.
- Focus of staff is to provide case management in helping
clients meet their needs while they take full advantage of their
recovery program.
- Plan, complete and execute a discharge plan, with guidance and
input from staff, recovery program, and peers, to insure maximum
benefit in sober independent living.
TARGET POPULATION: All persons admitted to
Supportive Living are chronic alcoholics who have an understanding
of their addiction and a commitment to recovery. The following is a
list of the primary admission criteria:
- Inability to abstain from alcohol outside of a controlled
environment.
- Need for structured supportive living and the ability to live
and negotiate recovery in a less structured environment than a
halfway house.
- Successful completion of an intensive treatment program, for
example, inpatient or intensive outpatient, and 90 days of
continuous abstinence from alcohol and other drugs.
- A willingness to commit to a minimum of three months to the
program.
LENGTH OF STAY: Length of stay in Supportive
Living is 3-12 months.
CAPACITY: 34 beds with apartments located in the
city of Binghamton, Johnson City and Endicott. |
